With over seven years of legal experience, Nellie’s journey began in May 2017 as a paralegal at a securities law firm. She then transitioned to a cannabis law firm, where she was promoted to Associate Attorney after passing the California Bar Exam. After 3.5 years in cannabis law, Nellie expanded her expertise by starting her own practice, including serving as general counsel for a healthcare company. In April 2024, she joined The Cromeens Law Firm as Of Counsel, focusing on construction litigation, business law, and corporate law, while also working as Of Counsel in personal injury law at a firm in Santa Monica.
Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, Nellie graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Global and Comparative Studies from Birmingham-Southern College. She then moved to California and earned her Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa in 2017. Today, Nellie calls Los Angeles home, where she enjoys the blend of professional opportunities and sunshine-filled living.
As a child, Nellie always dreamed of becoming a lawyer. Watching her entrepreneurial father navigate business and real estate transactions, including the occasional legal disputes, sparked her early interest in the field. Her decision to pursue law solidified after a summer internship at a Birmingham law firm that handled personal injury, immigration, and bankruptcy matters.
What motivates Nellie to go to work every day is knowing that she can make a difference for clients who are going through tough times. Whether it’s helping someone recover from an unexpected injury, resolving a heated dispute, or guiding a business through complex legal challenges, Nellie finds it incredibly rewarding to be the person they rely on to navigate those situations. Seeing the relief or gratitude on a client’s face after resolving their case reminds her why she does what she does. It’s not just about the legal work—it’s about helping people find solutions and move forward.
Outside of work, Nellie loves staying active and exploring the world. She has traveled to over 20 countries and is always looking forward to her next adventure. Closer to home, she enjoys hiking, Pilates, and rollerblading—her favorite ways to unwind and stay fit. Nellie also has a huge passion for live music, especially electronic house music, and loves going to concerts whenever she gets the chance. Spending quality time with friends and family is really important to her, and her dog, Sully, is always part of the fun. When Nellie wants to relax, you can usually find her binge-watching a new TV show. Whether discovering a new place, enjoying good music, or just hanging out with loved ones, Nellie strives to make the most of her time outside of work.
