Charles L. Rutter (Charlie) serves the Firm’s Of Counsel role in Kansas. Over the years, he has served as General Counsel for several general contracting companies. He has over 15 years of experience in the construction business as both counsel and management. He lives outside of Lawrence, Kansas, where he is active in his community, school, and church. He is a graduate of the Washburn University School of Law and Kansas State University.
Prior to joining the Firm, Charlie also served as an Assistant Attorney General and Assistant District Attorney in Kansas, where he protected the public in the Appellate, Consumer, and Civil Litigation Divisions. Early in his career, he was an associate at the national law firm of Stinson, LLP and worked at the Pentagon with a secret clearance.
His philosophy is simple, the client is the number one priority, and he works tirelessly to represent their best interests to achieve the best possible outcomes. He is a hands-on practitioner, and you will often see him out on various project sites during the early stages of litigation. In his spare time, he enjoys running, fishing, skiing, trail riding, and spending time with his family of 6. He is an avid fly fisherman and alpine ski racer.
